MINDFULNESS- Kids Programme

The Youth Mindfulness Kids programme is a 16-lesson introduction to mindfulness for 7 to 11 year olds, developed by youthmindfulness.org to be taught in Schools. 

The course is delivered in a friendly and relaxed way through using activities, visuals and videos to captivate their interest and help to cultivate  focused awarenes on the present moment.

The Programme focuses on 8 themes: intention, attention, attitude, gratitude, resilience, self-kindness, kindness to others, and purpose.

Why teaching mindfulness to children?

 In the current digital age children are more susceptible to stress, anxiety and sleeping problems, as well as to an increased difficulty in focusing or concentrate for long periods of time. 

Although Internet and new technologies can be used as a tool for children´s learning and development it also means being constantly bombarded by social media alerts, messages, and an overload of information leaving them hooked up on their screens for the fear of missing out, affecting children´s mental health and self-image.  

Mindfulness offers the kids tools to enable them to be in the moment and appreciate moments of tranquility, peace and silence, as well as to connect with their emotions and developing positive relationships with self, skills that will accompany them throughout their journey from childhood to adulthood.
